Your Canggu Go-Food Go-Tos
Go-Food, the extension of motorbike taxi firm Go-Jek that’s Indonesia’s answer to Uber Eats, has transformed the dining experience on Bali. When you can’t face traffic, Go-Food does it for you, bringing everything from bargain satay to fresh fish and chips to your home.
Frankly, in Canggu, Kerobokan and Umalas, your Go-Food options are pretty darn fantastic. Here’s eight of my favourite Go-Food choices in and around Canggu.
Taco Casa
Bali’s fresh-Mex staple only recently appeared on Go-Food, but their execution is amazing: nachos and make your own tacos come perfectly packed for self-assembly, while burritos are hot. Cangguites should order from the Echo Beach location: there are also options in Petitenget and Ubud.
El Jefe Cubanos
Staying with the Latin American theme, Batu Bolong’s Cuban-themed food truck with the pork and cheese pressed sandwiches to die for is also on Go-Food. For your serving of greasy goodness with extra pickles, pick them.
Fat Chicken
Chickens at this Nelayan emporium are cooked fresh daily which means they often (ugh) run out by later in the evening. Order early for perhaps the most succulent rotisserie chicken I’ve ever tasted, with serviceable salads and a lovely baby potato side.
PitStop
I’ve had a post on Bali’s best burgers in the works for about five kilograms now, and the lamb & rosemary burger on the menu at this Bali burger chain is a top contender. Fries are meltingly crisp with lovely powdery insides, and they have locations in Uluwatu and Seminyak, too.
Monsieur Spoon
Craving macarons? An almond croissant? Or perhaps a club sandwich? This French-owned bakery has locations in Umalas, Petitenget, Seminyak, Canggu and Ubud and should be your Go-Food sugar fix starting point.
The Plumbers Arms
For your choice of instant gastropub fare order from this Kerobokan expat staple. It’s rare that a menu as comprehensive as the Plumbers’ is executed so consistently well: fish and chips are a standout, while their carpaccio does the job too.
The Shady Shack
Health food doesn’t often look at its finest after it’s been through the delivery mill, but the vegetarian menu from this classic Canggu café stands up well to Go-Food’s mercies. Opt for the halloumi bowl, a box of delicious goodness with beetroot, quinoa, rocket, baba ghanouj and so much more.
Gaya Gelato
Yes, delivery ice cream has indeed come to Go-Food. And this purveyor of organic goodness, tangy sorbets and all things cold and wonderful now has a Canggu branch. Order 500 grams at a time, not the smaller portions, because tropics.
Kunti III
As delivery Japanese goes, Kunti III is reasonably priced and has an extensive menu. The sashimi set is gigantic and outstanding value; the natto is as mucilaginous as can be; both gyoza and ramen hit the comfort food spot.
Koloni
Top marks to this place’s rigour on defining what will be served when: breakfasts are delivered until noon, when the lunch and dinner menu kicks in. For waffles, bowls, avo on toast and variations on the eggs to avo theme, look no further.
Where have I missed?! Drop me a comment and let me know.
